2020 NEW MOON ECLIPSE in SAGITTARIUS

December 14 2020 at 8:17 am PST is new Moon eclipse in Sagittarius. Fire sign Sagittarius rules the 9th house of education, philosophy, and the higher mind. Under the influence of Sagittarius, focus is on new learning, establishing values, and truth telling during this lunar month.

The new Moon, Sun, and Mercury are all in Sagittarius resulting in some very frank, direct, conversations. The new Moon, Sun, and Mercury trine Mars in Aries bringing energy to not back down from a challenge. These transits are favorable for decisive action, negotiations, and asserting your position.

The new Moon, Sun, and Mercury square Neptune in Pisces. There can be a feeling of disorientation, or allowing someone to talk you into doing something that you really don’t want to do. So avoid speculative or risky ventures. This is not the best transit for buying or selling in business, especially during an eclipse.

Plus this new Moon is a total solar eclipse at 8:15 am PST. An eclipse is an absence of light when the shadow is seen, meaning that what is hidden can come to the surface. If seeking clarity about what is obscure in your life, contact me for your tarot card reading, astrology forecast, or feng shui consultation.

DOUBLE RAT MONTH

This new Moon begins Earth Rat month until January 12, 2021. Earth Rat month in this Metal Rat year is a double Rat month. In Chinese medicine, Earth is the “mother” of Metal because metal ore is extracted from the earth. Therefore, Earth Rat and Metal Rat are very fortunate together. Anticipate a successful and prosperous time that can continue into the following Earth Ox month in January.

Rat lunar month is time to focus on the details of practical matters. Rats are logical and rarely are swayed by emotions, particularly in financial dealings. This eclipsed double Rat lunar month is an ideal time to find out all the facts and figures. Accomplish tasks in small digestible bites, like a mouse, to not become overwhelmed.

WINTER SOLSTICE the Great Conjunction

December 21 2020 at 2:02 am PST is Winter Solstice that marks the shortest day and the longest night in the northern hemisphere. Winter Solstice this year is exceptional because there will an exact conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in 0 degrees Aquarius. Air sign Aquarius brings focus on communication, information, and technology. It’s the sign of all humanity, and the connection between us all. The Age of Aquarius, the Global Village, has arrived.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn is either a time of patient and sustained growth, or a time of restless to create a new life cycle. Either way, under the influence of Jupiter, events turn out for the best. But note that Saturn transits require discipline and planning.

For most people, it’s best to stay with their current path and continue doing what  they’re doing, but do it in a new and innovative way. For a few rare birds, this conjunction is time to break from the established order to build a completely new life structure such as a new job, new relationship, spiritual path, and different world view.

Winter Solstice occurs during the waxing half Moon in Aries at 3:41 pm PST. Half Moons are time for emotional balance. Fire sign Aries brings dynamic energy to take action. Just stay balanced and don’t go overboard.

Activities and experiences this lunar month are powerful for everyone, and are most transformative for Fire signs Sagittarius, Aries, and Leo and those born in Rat, Dragon, Snake, and Monkey years.

Happy new Moon,

Susan

November 28, 2020 § 1 Comment

November 30 2020 at 1:30 am PST is a full Moon in Gemini, and a lunar eclipse at 1:43 am PST. Air sign Gemini rules the 3rd house of communication, ideas, and relatives. Time to express your ideas and communicate your feelings during this full Moon, and during the next two weeks as the full Moon wanes. Topics that were hidden, or it was just not the right time to speak about them, can come to light during this eclipse.

Mercury in perceptive Water sign Scorpio sextiles Jupiter and Saturn in earthy Capricorn. This is favorable for overall planning with clarity of purpose. Timing is good to make practical changes, and to communicate about important matters. People are more tolerant of different viewpoints and have more intellectual curiosity. These Mercury sextiles are also very beneficial for business.

Venus in Scorpio is opposite Uranus in Taurus. Anticipate unexpected surprises in relationships. Artistic creativity is heightened to find ways to break from the norm. And enjoy the sensual pleasures of life as this full Moon marks the peak of epicurean Pig month.

The Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto conjunction in Capricorn continues, emphasizing both financial and political issues. Energy will change on December 21, Winter Solstice, when both Jupiter and Saturn enter Aquarius. Air sign Aquarius brings focus on communication, information, and technology.

2020 New Moon in Scorpio begins Pig Month

November 11, 2020 § Leave a comment

November 14 2020 at 9:07 pm PST is a new Moon in Scorpio. Water sign Scorpio rules the 8th house of sex, death, and rebirth. This lunar month can be a time of transformation, passion, and forward movement now that Mars in fiery Aries is no longer retrograde as of November 13, and Mercury in Scorpio is no longer retrograde as of November 3.

More good news is the new Moon and Sun in Scorpio are in a fortunate sextile with Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn. This brings stability, and a strong sense of purpose. There’s increased enthusiasm and optimism to focus on a goal. It’s easier to organize and make overall plans, get things done, and seize opportunities.

Plus the new Moon and Sun trine Neptune in Pisces to be more in touch with your emotions, allowing for increased empathy, understanding, and compassion for others. This is an auspicious time for intuitive consultations so contact me for your tarot reading or astrology forecast.

This new Moon begins Fire Pig lunar month from November 14 to December 13. Gentle, kind-hearted Pig allows everyone to win. Therefore, Pig lunar month can be a healing time after the antagonism of the previous Fire Dog month. The element Fire brings strength, and makes the usually laid-back Pig more active and engaged in life.

Note that Venus in Libra squares Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto. In the pursuit of life’s pleasures, there could be overeating or overspending, especially in a Pig month. In relationships, there could be emotional intensity when a lighter touch is called for. An unhealthy relationship could end, whereas healthy relationships become deeper and more profound.

Rebirth and understanding are for all, and are most powerful for Water signs Scorpio, Pisces, and Cancer and those born in Pig, Rabbit, Sheep, and Tiger years.

I was interviewed by Reader’s Digest about the upcoming 2021 Metal Ox year. Read interview here.

Happy new Moon,

2020 Aquarius Full Moon in Sheep Month

August 1, 2020 § 1 Comment

August 3 2020 is a full Moon in Aquarius. Air sign Aquarius rules the 11th house of friends, networks, and social values. Aquarian individuals are unique thinkers who tend not to follow convention, making this full Moon the time for innovative viewpoints, methods, and unanticipated experiences.

If challenged to apply new methods, the full Moon and Sun in Leo square Uranus in Taurus, creating a fixed T-square. There could be relationship difficulties due to conflicting opinions, lack of patience concerning responsibilities, or it’s just hard to stay on your chosen life path. But a sudden Uranus difficulty can help to discover what is bothering you to start eliminating it from your life.

Fortunately, the Leo Sun trines Mars in Aries, Mars’ powerful rulership sign. This Fire trine is favorable for new projects, there’s increased vigor and enthusiasm about motivation and goals, and physical activity of all kinds is very rewarding. Contact me for your tarot reading or astrology forecast about a new direction.

This full Moon marks the peak of summer at the solar point between Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox. This is the time in the ancient European agricultural calendar of Lammas, meaning loaf mass, celebrating the threshing of grain and the first fruits of harvest. This full Moon is also the peak of Water Sheep month for a more gentle way of relating to others.

The Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto conjunction in Capricorn continues, placing focus on financial and political issues. Opportunities for change and awareness are for all, and are most dynamic for Air signs Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra and those born in Tiger, Horse, Sheep, and Dog years.

Happy full Moon,

Susan

2020 Virgo Full Moon in Rabbit Month

March 6, 2020 § 1 Comment

The full Moon trines Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all in Earth sign Capricorn. These trines create an easier flow of energy for activities, everything from taxes to sharing abundant springtime meals. For sky watchers, this is a super moon so will appear larger than usual in the night sky.

Diplomatic Rabbit’s finer points are strengthened by Venus conjunct Uranus in Taurus. People are open to enjoying sensual and earthy Taurean pleasures. Rifts in relationships can be smoothed out.

2017 Cancer New Moon begins Sheep Month

June 21, 2017 § 2 Comments

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 23 2017 is a new Moon in Water sign Cancer. Cancers are highly sensitive and are natural empaths. Cancer rules the 4th house of family, home, and roots. So this lunar month is time to focus on home, security, and ways of nurturing self and others.

The new Moon, Sun, Mercury, and Mars are all in Cancer for healing communication, setting boundaries, and creating comfortable and peaceful environments. Plus Cancers can be astute about finances, so this lunar month is good to organize your financial affairs.

Mars trines Neptune in Pisces to work collectively, and help others. Venus in Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn to strengthen relationship bonds, and artistic work has more emotional impact.

But a cardinal T-square of Mars square Jupiter  and opposite Pluto could bring concerns about where to go and what to do. Under the influence of gentle Cancer, it’s better to slow down, take time for yourself, and complete current projects before initiating new endeavors.

MONTH of the SHEEP

This new Moon begins the month of the Fire Sheep in Chinese astrology. The element Fire adds more liveliness and passion to Sheep’s character. Sheep love the arts, so this lunar month is time to appreciate art in all its forms.

Sheep month is also time to tend your health, back down from arguments, and treat weekends or free time as if you were at a spaaa. Luck is strongest for Water signs Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces and those born in Sheep, Horse, Rabbit, and Pig years.

Contact me for your tarot card reading, astrology forecast, or feng shui consultation for Sheep month, especially feng shui for your home.

Happy new Moon,

Susan

Preface from Introduction to Tarot

August 12, 2016 § Leave a comment

Intro to Tarot book coverPeople keep asking me how I got into reading tarot cards. I had a card reading, it came true, so I was interested! My story is in the Preface from my book INTRODUCTION TO TAROT:

I was 17 years old when I first sought answers from the tarot. I inquired about working as a florist to support myself while I studied painting at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The final outcome card was the 8 of cups. It showed a dissatisfied person walking away, wearing a heavy cloak. Because I had already paid a deposit for classes, I ignored the tarot’s prognosis and attended floral arts school for the summer, received certification, and got a job at the Bismarck Hotel that autumn.

cups8My experience working as a florist did not fulfill my expectation of working with the beauty of nature. All bouquets were copied from a floral delivery book. Creativity and sculpture with flowers (or Japanese ikibana) was discouraged. After handling hundreds of roses, I learned to watch for thorns instead of admiring the blossoms, which had no scent because they were hothouse buds. Adding to my dissatisfaction was my irritable boss. When I tried to talk to him about his bitter disposition, he screamed at me for the last time and I quit. I left the hotel as the cold Chicago wind blew down the street. I headed to the subway station, and was putting up the collar of my heavy winter coat when it hit me – I was reenacting the exact picture on the 8 of Cups! I was actually living the tarot.

Because the reading came true, I had to have my own tarot deck and learn to read the cards. I went to the only place I knew of that sold tarot cards in Chicago, the Occult Bookshop located on North State Street. I entered the store, which I can only describe as witchy. It was stocked from floor to ceiling with every imaginable occult item, from pure and healing to negative and creepy. There were astrology maps, candles, oils, brews and elixirs, costumes, capes, and what appeared to be stuffed and mounted animals. I asked to see the tarot decks, and the large Thoth deck intrigued me. Its shamanic imagery perfectly mirrored the energy of the Occult Bookstore.

I purchased the Thoth deck and Aleister Crowley’s BOOK OF THOTH. I read the book cover to cover that night. I understood it because of my childhood interest in fairy tales, mythology, Egyptian archeology, and my hobby (bordering on obsession) foreign languages. I had attended Hebrew school as a child, studied Latin in high school, and was reading Ezra Pound’s translations from the Chinese when I was a teen. But, for me, Crowley resonated more than Pound, for he used symbols in a practical manner. Although I enjoyed reading about tarot, I discovered that one could understand what the cards meant simply by looking at the pictures.

10wheeloffortuneMy newfound interest in tarot was not well received. I was told that tarot was “the work of the devil”. People actually said to me “You will burn in hell!” and “Get thee behind me, Satan!” I felt like a pioneer keeping alive the ancient mysteries. I didn’t mind the “you will burn in hell” curses because hell was the accuser’s personal vision, not mine. But the unsolicited and unwelcome attempts to cast out my demons really did upset me.

cups1In 1980, I moved to Tucson, Arizona to attend graduate school. People were even more anti-tarot there than in Chicago. I finished my studies and then pulled tarot cards to determine a better place for me to live where my soul would be content. My choices were either New York City or San Francisco. New York was the Wheel of Fortune. San Francisco was the Ace of Cups. Both are excellent cards. But I chose the Ace of Cups because I am a Pisces with a grand water trine in my birth chart (Sun in Pisces trine Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer trine Saturn in Scorpio). I realized that in New York I would make more money, but I followed my heart.

On New Year’s day 1983, I moved to San Francisco. The reaction to my interest in tarot cards was the opposite of what I experienced in Chicago and Tucson. Many people asked me to read tarot for them. In 1986, I resigned from my job as an artist and became a professional tarot card reader. (I’ve found it more fulfilling to read tarot than to paint.) Soon my clients asked me to teach them how to read tarot cards. I typed up a few notes and passed them out in my classes. Eventually the notes grew and ended up as this book.

I invite you to join me and share the mystery.
