Highlights this week are the full Moon on Monday, the first full Moon of this Water Snake year; a solidly grounded yet spiritual Water Ox day on Thursday; and a double Tiger breakthrough day on Friday!
Monday February 25 is a full Moon, the first full Moon in this Water Snake year. Today is a lucky day to express yourself and stay strong in your point of view because it is a Water Dog day in the month of the Wood Tiger. Dog and Tiger are best friends plus Water is the mother of Wood, meaning that Water helps Wood (plants) to grow. The Sun and full Moon make a strong aspect to planet of opportunity Jupiter, giving you energy to help get ahead while still feeling generous with others. You can be successful going it alone, but group efforts can also succeed. Tonight the full Moon trines Pluto for the honesty that Dog cherishes and the depth of experience that Tiger needs. Luck is strongest for Dog, Rabbit, Tiger, and Horse and during Dog hours 7 pm – 9 pm.
Tuesday February 26 is a sensitive Water Pig day to trust your feelings and intuition, and to be less judgmental of others. Be open to new ideas because communication planet Mercury blends with power planet Mars for mental and intellectual activity. Fine for new learning or discovery, but the Moon is opposite both Mercury and Mars so people can feel like debating or being argumentative. Your heart could tell you one thing while your mind says another. Fortunately Pig’s kind-hearted and gentle nature can smooth over communication difficulties. Luck is strongest for Pig, Tiger, Rabbit, and Sheep and during Pig hours 9 pm – 11 pm.
Wednesday February 27 is an ambitious Wood Rat day to plan, structure, and set goals. The Moon is opposite Uranus that can be inspiring for new ideas and projects, but don’t get too excitable or make big decisions or commitments that cannot later be changed. Uranus brings the desire for freedom, to vary your routine, and for a change of pace making tonight a fun time for some mid-week socializing or entertainment. Plus the Moon trines Jupiter this evening for easy enjoyment and a pleasant sense of well being. Luck is strongest for Rat, Ox, Dragon, and Monkey and during Rat hours 11 pm – 1 am.
Thursday February 28 is a solid Wood Ox day to get grounded and stay strong in your endeavors. The Moon aspects Pluto to really figure out what you want, and what makes people tick. If others try to manipulate you, they will not be successful under the influence of the strong Ox. On a more spiritual level, Venus blends with Neptune for refined love and spirituality or a powerful soul union with others, especially on this Water Ox day in this Water Snake year. Ox and Snake are best friends, and the element Water brings depth of feelings and sensitivity. Luck is strongest for Ox, Rat, Snake, and Rooster and during Ox hours 1 am – 3 am.
Friday March 1 is double Tiger; a Fire Tiger day in a Wood Tiger month! The element Wood is the mother of Fire ( Wood helps Fire burn more brightly) making this a breakthrough day for creativity. Sun sextiles Pluto and trines Saturn to seize opportunity for change and improvement, yet not lose what you’ve accomplished in the past. You can build on your existing foundation. Moon trines Neptune and Venus tonight for added creativity and self expression, plus enjoyment and appreciation of fine food and drink. Luck is strongest for Tiger, Dog, Horse, and Pig and during Tiger hours 3 am – 5 am.
Saturday March 2 is a sentimental and expressive Fire Rabbit day. The Moon trines the Sun for pleasant encounters, life can flow more easily, and romance is lucky. The Moon trines Mercury to talk about emotions and listen sympathetically to others, especially under Hare’s influence of keen diplomatic skills. Today is a fortunate time to write letters, keep in touch, and let others know how you feel about them. Tonight is perfect for a small romantic dinner or intimate date. Luck is strongest for Rabbit, Sheep, Dog, and Pig and during Hare hours 5 am – 7 am.
Sunday March 3 is a grand Earth Dragon day for activity and socializing. The Moon trines Mars for more courage and confidence, which is natural for the Dragon. You can work as the leader or work independently. Either way, you’re ready for action. But now is better for short projects not long-term goals. The Moon squares Neptune bringing an inclination for daydreams and fantasies, a favorite pastime of dreamer Dragon. But this can bring added awareness to your environment. You might not always be in touch with reality, but fun for a party or adventure! Luck is strongest for Dragon, Rat, Snake, and Monkey and during Dragon hours 7 am – 9 am.
Have a great week!

Monday February 25 2013 at 12:26 pm PST is a full Moon in the Earth sign Virgo. Snake year is the time to pare down and shed your skin, making this Virgo full moon ideal to start releasing the things that you no longer need.
This full Moon is also ideal to start a meditative path, or develop a spiritual practice for Snake year because the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Neptune are all in the highly intuitive and sensitive Water sign Pisces. A moving meditation, such as yoga or tai chi, is very healing this fluid Water Snake year.
Luck to get organized and release the past is for everyone, and is strongest for the Earth signs Virgo, Taurus, and Capricorn and those born in Phoenix (Rooster), Snake, and Ox years.
Happy full Moon!

MERCURY RETROGRADE starts Saturday February 23 on a MONKEY DAY that can add more chaos and unexpected actions. Mercury is the trickster in Western astrology and Monkey is the trickster in Chinese astrology.
Communication planet Mercury is retrograde for three weeks three times a year. During the Mercury retrograde in this Water Snake year, slow down and be more thorough. And be very picky about any documents that you sign.
The Mercury retrograde dates in 2013 are:
February 23 – March 17 in Water sign Pisces. Take time to ponder before acting, which works in a contemplative Snake year.
June 26 – July 20 in Water sign Cancer. Communicate your feelings, and really listen to the sentiment of what people say.
October 21 – November 10 in Water sign Scorpio. Secrets can be revealed, and actions without integrity will be exposed.

After posting the easy feng shui tip about focusing on the Knowledge corner in this Snake year, I received an email from a woman who recently moved into a yurt in the woods near Santa Cruz, California. A yurt is a round tent-like structure with a single round room so there are no corners. But the ba gua (eight tri-grams) map still applies to make her yurt home a place of harmony and renewal.
I advised that if she feels lacking in any corner, a solution is to add landscaping in that area to fill out the corner. Make sure to use plants that are lush and healthy. Best are plants that do not lose their leaves in winter; an evergreen is ideal. If she does not have a green thumb, she could add a lovely statue or other nice embellishment. Just be sure that the statue or sculpture is soft, round, and beautiful not sharp or made of old rusty parts. Or she could add a light, but it must always be in good working order.
This feng shui solution applies to any building that is missing an area of the ba gua. Add greenery to fill in the empty space, or find another way to create life, vitality, and movement in that area. Fountains are perfect in a wealth corner — but not if you live in a cold and damp climate that does not need more water. And fountains must be maintained so be sure you are up for the task.
The woman also wrote that she had to pare down to live in her yurt so she will definitely clear out items that no longer serve her. In a small space, she needs to be very aware of no clutter. And she looks forward to creating better placement for those things that she needs, or loves, and decided to keep.
So if a woman can live well in a yurt, you have no excuse to not clear your clutter now in Snake year!

Valentine’s Day falls on the day of the sensual Pig. Party-loving, romantic Pig is perfect for Valentine’s Day! Relationships are very harmonious and people are at ease with each other. You can have success with very little effort, especially in romance. And the Sun makes a fortunate sextile to the Moon, adding luck for the opposite sex. So how does Valentine’s day bring out the animal in you?
Rat: Only the finest for you Rat! Rat is a true connoisseur and appreciates the best things life has to offer. A gourmet meal in the finest restaurant followed by a gift of expensive jewelry is perfect. So are airline tickets to a luxury resort. Nothing cheap or shabby will do if you want to bring out the passionate, creative, and smoldering side of the Rat.
Ox: Ox can be serious and is a hard worker, but loves the idea of taking a big break for Valentine’s day. Head to a hot tub, sauna, or spa to indulge in a relaxing full body massage. Or provide a massage in the privacy of your boudoir. And be sure to include lots of chocolate. Ox may may be slow to warm up, but once turned on is unstoppable!
Tiger: Tiger was born ready to go but is easily bored, so plan a fun and eventful evening with lots of activities. First cocktails at the hippest and most crowded hotspot in town to see and be seen, then dinner at the most popular bistro, then out for dancing til sunrise. A big night on the town turns Tiger into a purring pussycat.
Hare: Romance, candlelight, and intimate moments are what excites a Hare. A bouquet of beautiful flowers are a must, followed by a quiet dinner at a small, secret, out of the way little bistro. Read poetry while dining, then take a slow walk holding hands. Sensitive Hare will be ready to melt in your arms.
Dragon: Go big or go home for the mighty Dragon! Dress up and go out to the top hotspot in town to drink, dance, and really party. Flattery will get you everywhere with a Dragon so pile on the compliments all evening. Then Dragon will be on fire by night’s end. And be sure to show up with a huge bouquet or the biggest box of chocolates.
Snake: Elegant refined Snake loves understated elegance and luxury. You cannot miss with fine dining so make reservations at a restaurant known for it’s authentic cuisine. And Snakes love gifts so an elegant piece of jewelry is ideal. But nothing too gaudy or flashy because Snake is a class act. Then go home for a night cap, coil up, and squeeze!
Horse: Horse loves adventure and new experiences so Valentine’s Day activities must be unique and entertaining. The latest blockbuster movie, a horse ride along the beach or a motorcycle ride around town, then a dip in a hot tub or pool will keep Horse stimulated. For Horse, this is foreplay!
Sheep: Sheep loves romance and a quiet night of sincere conversation to feel love, appreciated, and cherished. Precious flowers such as orchids, a small box of artisan chocolates, or a book of romantic poetry make the best gifts. When Sheep feels cared for and nurtured then out comes their sensual passion.
Monkey: Variety is the spice of life so do the unexpected to get a Monkey excited. Start out with red roses, but then add a surprise. The more offbeat the better! Go to a restaurant featuring cuisine that’s new to the Monkey, or a wine tasting bar with many choices, and then or kick up your heels at a place you’ve never been before. Then Monkey is happy and ready for love.
Phoenix (Rooster): Plumage matters to the Phoenix so get dressed up, put on your dancing shoes, and go out for a night on the town. The perfect gift is a fine silk or cashmere scarf, gemstone necklace, or other luxury item of clothing. After partying all night in the spotlight, Phoenix won’t be tired but instead still raring to go!
Dog: Romantic Dog appreciates declarations of love and fidelity. Bring romantic flowers and chocolates, but focus only on your loved one as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist. As the world melts away and Dog is assured that they are the one and only, then they are putty in your hands.
Pig: Perfect for Pig is a big box of gourmet chocolates. Gourmand Pig loves really good food so definitely include cocktails and a meal at a nice restaurant. But Pig doesn’t really need anything too fancy. Fine to go home, turn on the TV, and snuggle. Once Pig is comfy and cozy, then the passion begins.

Highlights are Tuesday, a lucky Phoenix (Rooster) day that’s good for communication & business; a powerful Iron Dog day on Wednesday when your focus & vitality are strengthened; and a double Wood Tiger day on Sunday to follow your passion!
Mon Feb 11 is an Earth Monkey day when Moon blends w/ both Mercury & Mars. It’s easy to experience what Buddhists call “monkey mind” – jump to a branch, grab a banana, peel it, take a bite, drop it; then jump to the next branch, grab a banana, peel it, take a bite, drop it. Reign in your Monkey mind and be less flighty today. Now is not a good time for decisions. Fortunately the Moon trines Saturn for needed stability & maturity. Luck is strongest for Monkey, Rat, Dragon & Snake and during the hours of the Monkey 3 pm – 5 pm.
Tues Feb 12 is the day of the Earth Phoenix (Rooster). This golden bird is very fortunate & blessed with all of life’s necessities. Be grateful that you have food on the table & a roof over your head. Mercury trines Saturn for metal stability, solid communication & excellent business acumen. Adding to your good fortune is that today is the first Phoenix day in this year of the Snake. Phoenix & Snake are best friends so energy is with you to be reborn & transformed in this Snake year. You can look forward to releasing old patterns & habits. Luck is strongest for Phoenix, Dragon, Snake & Ox and during Phoenix hours 5 pm – 7 pm.
Wed Feb 13 is the day of the Metal Dog. The Metal Dog has a double dose of Metal’s powerful abilities. Your focus & vitality can improve & you’ll be stronger in your endeavors. In Tibetan astrology, the Metal Dog is referred to as the “Iron Dog” because of his relentless focus & uncompromising ideals & values. The Moon blends w/ Uranus for sudden surprises or rash actions. But under the influence of the Metal Dog, follow your gut instincts. A rash action can be correct because this is a Tiger month, and Dog & Tiger are best friends. The Moon sextiles Venus this evening for good feelings, especially in groups because Dog loves the pack. Luck is strongest for Dog, Hare (Rabbit), Tiger & Horse and during Dog hours 7 pm – 9 pm.
Thurs Feb 14 – Life can slow down on this sensual Metal Pig day. Party-loving, romantic Pig is perfect for Valentine’s Day! The Sun sextiles the Moon for emotional equilibrium. Relationships are very harmonious & people are at ease with each other. You can have success with very little effort, especially in romance. Enjoy a fine meal and some chocolate. Today is a time to be at peace and enjoy an easy flow of energy. Luck is strongest for Pig, Tiger, Hare & Sheep and during the hours of the Pig 9 pm – 11 pm.
Fri Feb 15 is the day of the Water Rat, good for organizing & planning. You can accomplish much & succeed in your goals, especially at work. Mars sextiles Pluto to realize important life goals. Your hard work is rewarded & you can be clear about your objectives. Working collectively is fortunate & you can make important alliances. Moon trines Pluto this evening for depth of experience & insights. Luck is strongest for Rat, Ox, Dragon & Monkey and during Rat hours 11 pm – 1 am.
Sat Feb 16 is a Water Ox day to follow through & complete some projects. Mars trines Saturn for patience & willingness to work hard – and no one works harder or better than the Ox. You can work at a controlled & even pace, and concentrate your energies on a specific task. Today is fortunate for physical work or working out because Ox is so strong. But tonight is for socializing and enjoyment when the Moon makes a connection to love planet Venus. Luck is strongest for Ox, Rat, Snake & Phoenix years and during Ox hours 1 am – 3 am.
Sun Feb 17 is double Wood Tiger; a Wood Tiger day in a Wood Tiger month! The element Wood is about growth & quick development, like a plant growing in springtime. You can succeed with little effort & move quickly through any obstacles or challenges. The Moon squares both Sun & Neptune for a burst of new inspiration & dreams. So don’t hold on to the past. Tiger-like compulsive behavior might be just what’s needed to release a stuck situation & allow you to follow your passion. Luck is strongest for Tiger, Dog, Horse & Pig and during the hours of the Tiger 3 am – 5 am.
Have a great week!
